Sonia and Monda Halpern

Sonia Halpern is an art historian who teaches in the Department of Women’s Studies and Feminist Research at The University of Western Ontario. She has received numerous teaching awards, and for five consecutive years was named one of Western’s most popular professors by the Maclean’s Guide to Canadian Universities. In 2005, she published a collection of poetry entitled The Life and Times of Transition Girl (South Western Ontario Poetry).
Monda Halpern is an Assistant Professor in the Department of History at The University of Western Ontario. She specializes in nineteenth and twentieth-century North American women’s history and Jewish history. Monda is the author of And On That Farm He Had a Wife: Ontario Farm Women and Feminism, 1900-1970 (McGill-Queen’s University Press, 2001), and is presently working on her second book about a 1931 murder case in the Ottawa Jewish community.
